Greetings on this Feast of St. Matthew the apostle! Yesterday we had a beautiful day to paddle on the McClure basin. Thanks to P.J. Pruett and Adam Heinzelman for helping me with the trip. I hope to have a monthly adventure somewhere around the area for students, families, and whoever wants to come!
Last Wednesday evening I celebrated a Healing Mass with indivual prayer and Anointing of the Sick available following Mass. One woman told me that the next morning when she arose, the debilitating back pain she had been experiencing was completely gone. Praise Jesus! I know there were also numerous people who experienced healing in their emotions and in painful memories as the Holy Spirit came to bind up some hurts and fill them with His love. The next Healing Mass will be Wednesday, October 14th at 5:30pm at St. Joseph parish. Spread the word and plan to come!
This Wednesday is the memorial of St. Padre Pio, an Italian priest famous for miracles through his prayers. You can learn about his life at the National Center for Padre Pio.
I just read a good blog post for married couples: 5 Tips for Making Date Night a Reality. I also want to invite you to our Couples' Night this Friday evening from 6pm-8:30pm at St. Joseph parish. We'll provide childcare, drinks, dinner, and a short film with discussion over dessert. Coming doesn't mean your marriage is on the rocks ~ we want to help you strengthen your connection during these trying times! Registration is limited to 20 couples, and seating will be spatially-distanced at individual tables. Sign up by Wednesday!
Here are two great reflections on the Gospel from this past Sunday, Jesus' parable of the Workers in the Vineyard: one by Msgr. Charles Pope and the other by Pope Francis.
This Thursday, September 24th is a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for God's mercy on our land and the healing and conversion of our hearts. Watch Fr. John Riccardo explain this day in his recent video, and plan to unite in prayer and sacrfice this Thursday!
Finally, I want to draw your attention to a national Catholic initiative called Civilize It. The goal is to promote civil dialogue in our world that's often focused more on personal attacks. Read more about it, take the pledge, and pass it on to others!
You all remain in my daily prayers ~ keep connected through our weekend bulletin and our Facebook page. God bless!
Peace,
Father Ryan
