The Easter Vigil is the most beautiful liturgy of the year. It begins outside with the blessing of the Easter fire, from which is lit the newly blessed Easter candle. This candle leads the procession into the darkened church, from which everyone lights their candle as a symbol of Christ's resurrection filling the darkness of this world. Salvation history is then recounted in the readings, after which the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are celebrated for those newly joining the Catholic Church. We renew our own baptismal promises before celebrating the Eucharist with the newly initiated for the first time. A light reception will follow in the Msgr. Spelgatti Center to celebrate Easter!
