It was a beautiful day to work on the grounds at St. Joseph Parish. A group of volunteers spent the morning cleaning up and making the property beautiful after the hard winter.
"I had my yard all raked before the last big snowstorm," said Jim Forrester. "So I figured I could come here and lend a hand."
There were numerous trees on the property that needed trimming. Art Gischia provided expert chain saw skills to cut down dead and low-hanging branches. The last two winters badly damaged the two cedar bushes by the office entrance, and they needed to come down, too. Art also provided a leaf blower to send the gravel and sand on the sidewalk back into the street.
Phil and Lisa Niemi pitched in by cleaning the flower beds and repairing the grass in places where the plow had dug in. Seminarian Drew Langton and Fr. Ryan spent the time raking and bagging leaves and dead grass.
All in all, the project turned out really great, and the grounds are now ready for the Spring rain and sunshine to green it up, and for Lisa to plant flowers. Summer improvements will include needed brick repair on the west side of the building, window replacement on the east side and the hall, and improved outdoor lighting. Thank you for your continued support of your parish church!
